Anyone interested in discussing the formation of a 207 Guild in Florida, let me know.

I would love to, but you sure look awful far south! Maybe we can work something out. I know MikeC only lives about 30 minutes from me.

Thanks Adam.

Although the 'charter' requirements have not yet been carved into a slab of curly maple, I believe that there will be some minimum membership number. Yes, I am probably about 275 miles south of you. If and when I get a few more responses, I will see what we can do. Have a great day.

RadMan,

Thanks for the offer. I may just take you up on that some time... Of course, I'd love to visit your shop to see how professionals finish things. I suck at it.. LOL.

Have a great day.

Hey Rat!

Adam is right, I'm about 30 minutes up I-95 from him (and another 30 from I-95 over to the Island) but I get to Kingsland two days a week to help a friend out in his saddle shop. We may find time to get together for lunch when he's ashore.

RaDioAcTivE might get a visit too. We're about 5 hours down the pike from him, but our younger daughter and son-in-law just got moved to Peachtree City for his job with Customs at Atlanta-Hartsfield Airport. It shouldn't be too long before Mama gets the fever to go up and check out the new apartment, and I KNOW we will find our way to Turner Field next season!

We're all kind of spread out, but a yearly get together in Jacksonville or St. Augustine might be an idea.

Jax or St. Augustine sounds great to me. We have friends and family in those areas so wifey might want to come too. LOL, she would have interest in seeing a bunch of old woodworkers, but she would like to visit St. A or Jax. again.

Rat.

Well, I figure if I drop the Boss at the Outlets by the exit on I-95 for St. Augustine, she wouldn't much care what I did after that!!

There is a small restuarant on the Island called "The Gypsy Cab Co". Awesome food. We used them in March 06 to cater a beach front pre-wedding reception. Everyone was thrilled with their food. I suggest we meet/eat there and throw back a couple of cold beverages.

Once you get a fix on how many folks in the area are interested, we'll settle on a date.

I am open to St. A or Jax anytime. Give me some lead time and I can go further south or possibly even up to RaDioAcTivE. We have Fam in St. A and Orlando, so the wife is usually ready to get there anyways. Just give me a heads up.

Adam,

I much prefer St. A' over the Big O and Wally World. We sorta have family in St. A' too. Daughter in Law's father lives there. We stayed in St. A's in March of 06 for Son's wedding and really had a good time. As such, wifey may (but not likely) want to come with me. Of course if Son/Daughter in Law and Grand Daughter just happen to be in St. A at the time, I'm sure she would come. At any rate, it's about a 4 hour drive for us. That's not too bad.

It's a good 2 1/2 to 3 for us, so that would work out for lunch on a round-trip.

Just about any weekend works for me after Thanksgiving. I will be having family visiting from Ohio until then. Other than that, I am pretty free. Can't wait.

MikeC,
Are you a member of SEGA (South East Georgia WoodWorkers Guild)? I have been thinking of joining, but just haven't gotten around to it. Do you ever go to Hanna's for your wood? Other than the Woodcraft in Jax, that is where I get most of my lumber. As I am on shore duty now (but still at Mayport), we'll have to set up a meet for when you are in Kingsland or passing through. Take care and maybe we'll meet soon.

Hey Adam!

No, I'm not a member. When I retired from the Government, I swore I'd never go to another meeting!! LOL. Seriously, they meet down in your area, and that's an hour each way from the house.

I have been to Hanna's. My wife is the Volunteer Coordinator at Hospice and one of her volunteers is a wood worker and asked her to tell me about it. It's a really nice operation and I hope they are successful.

I thought you were at King's Bay when I saw your profile. I am usually in Kingsland at the saddle shop on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. If you're off either of those days some week, maybe we can meet for lunch.

Mike

Guys, wifey says.. "Sure, we can go to visit them in St. A. But screw going to the Outlet mall, I'm going to the St. A Gun Shop".. She loves that one.. They treat her like a pistol packing Queen there. LOL...

Now you know why it was important for me to have the house cleaned up when she got home.

Rat
