Looking to establish the Central New York Chapter of the 207. We have lots to offer - geographically we are located in the center of New York State. A little more that an hour drive to Alex Bay/1000 Islands, less than 30 mins. to Stickley and Harden Furniture Factories/Showrooms and a lot more.

Hi, I'd love to get involved, but between work and household projects and chasing away the overabundant deer there isn't much time. Still it would be great to meet some of you. I'm definitely interested and will try to connect if you get something set up. Clif Ithaca
I am just north of Syracuse as well and have been looking for a group to possibly get in with (have looked at the sawdust and woodchips organization as well, though haven't attended any meetings). I am pretty busy, but could make time to meet up once in a while.

The Sawdust & Woodchips is ok - meetings are the first Thursday of the month, occ there is an exception and July is one of them. Just had one last night it was the annual swap meet and auction. There is also a turning sub-group and they meet in the middle of the month. We mostly have local speakers in. John Wilson, our only national speaker, usually comes in once a year.
Another one to check out and is much better is Rochester Woodworkers Society (RWS). Meets September thru May on the 2nd or 3rd Friday of the month. They have national speakers in and the line up is usually pretty good. Several SIGs - Period Furniture (1st Monday of month); Boatbuilding, Furniture, Turning, and a few others. Depending on where you are, its about an 1-1.5 hr ride each way. I travel out 2xs a month. Usually try to leave Syracuse area early so I can hit the "local" Woodcraft.
Also the local chapter of SAPFM - we just did a trip last weekend to: Certainly Woods, Roy Croft and Kittingers in the Buffalo area. This very nice trip was orginized by a grad from the North Bennet Street School. Who just happens to live in the area. And want to thank her again for putting this together. It was Awesome.
Also a combination of all 3 went to NWA out in Albany about a month ago. That was pretty good. So yeah there is a lot going on in the area. PM me with a cell # or email and I'll give you the heads up on the next meetings. Do turn lack of time, I'm more off line than online.
