I see on the show that a typical finish is to use BLO (let dry ~1 week in real time) and then lacquer (and then a wax). How is that done, any tips, any secrets?

milhughes, I just saw that when I viewed the Greene and Greene dressing mirror. Tommy talked about the BLO and laquer. It's been over a month now, and no answer. Webmaster, how about some communication? If you folks don't check your blog and answer, what good is it?

I took a chance and did it = use BLO, wait 8 days til it was dry and then put poly on top (4 coats). Check it out: http://www.finewoodworking.com/item/464 ... end-tables

Great job, Hughes. I appreciate your sharing this info. I intend to do the same thing rather than stain. The BLO brings out the color and grain without blotching in cherry.
