I got my C6 contractors license this year and made the hard decision to go full time and make woodworking my full time profession.

Here's a few jobs I have been working on in the past couple weeks.

Raised panel wainscot in two different homes, and a solid mahogany 6 ft 6" yard door/gate (in process). The gate will get a shop made field of shiplath mahogany and the wainscot is all being painted white for a classic look.

The frame of the door is pulled apart to show joinery, and the wainscot pics are rough install just after adding cap rail, but before sanding out some of the joinery. Under the stairs, the wainscot I did completely conceals two access doors which will remain accessible by the way I mitered and divided the cap rail mouldings. The area still open below the stairs will be framed and drywalled.

Very nice Paul,

What happens above the little cut out above the wainscot below the steps?

right behind the wainscot cap rail will be the wall with an opening to access storage behind the wainscot. The triangle shaped void will be framed and drywalled. In that corner two sections of wainscot are hinged and swing open to access storage under the stairs. When closed it just looks like regular wainscot.

Paul,
First of all, Kudos for making the leap into woodworking fulltime! Looks like you have some great projects going on, the door and wainscoting is looking amazing. I know from past experiences that wainscoting can be challenging when being installed at an angle. Are you finding your jobs on your own? or are you functioning as a sub-contractor with other builders, remodelers & contractors?

Hi Paul.

Congrats on going pro. I hope things go well for your new venture. From the look of the samples you've shown us, it should be simply a matter of getting the word out. Quality sells.

My favorite quote: "I'd rather explain price once than apologize for poor quality for ever."

Just finished today. Installing was as much work as building them or felt like it.

Just that gate alone, not including all your other work. Shows pure professionalism in construction and installation. Really great work Paul, continued success in going pro :D

Nifty gate. Next up, a hobbit hole door?
