Can anybody tell me where to get the practice blocks for the ball and claw foot carving (Chippendale footstool)and specifically what chisels, gouges etc. are used?

Rhemaword, I will direct you to the Community forums, viewforum.php?f=77

There is a discussion on not only carving the claw feet but also different clamping methods and I believe wood to use.

Hope this helps.
