I need to carve a basket weave pattern on some corbels for a mantle. I have looked all over the net with no luck. I have worked on it and its not to bad but any tips would be of great help.

Fredrick Wilbur would be a good place to start. I have two of his books which are quite informative and cover just about every aspect of carving, mainly the architectural carving book which covers basket weave. Fred usually responds to e-mail questions.

the other links I know nothing about but seem to be basket weave specific.

Apparently basket weave carving is quite popular with the gun sock and pistol grip carvers.

You could also do a search for "celtic" as their designs are heavy into basket type weaving.
