Here's the completed step stool. This project kind of blindsided me as far as my preconceptions of its complexity. All in all, I think it came out alright. I took the idea of some other posts, and put a taper on the front of the stool as well. In the cheat sheet and in other posts, I couldn't find anywhere the dimensions of the radius for the stretchers, so I just winged it! Overall, I loved this project, and I'm looking forward to the toolbox!

Nice step stool! Its great to see another one made and shared with the forum.. Did you end up using hand tools throughout most of the project? planing, chiseling, sawing? :)

FYI. I'm starting to put out some feelers and lining up some guys for a Colorado 207 gathering. Dates haven't been finalized but I think we what we have lined up is pretty good.. Covering saw sharpening, going over the teeth layout/set for rip saws, crosscut saws, dovetails saws.. etc... I think he'll also go over making your own enclosed saw handles..

If any other local 207 lurkers/members are interested in joining us feel free to PM me..

Nice looking job. My wife loves cherry, so don't let her see it if you want to keep it! :lol:

Here's an idea for future step stoolers...
A handle/handhold. Make it easier to move without bending down and provide ballance support while using it.

Yeah, I actually picked up some hand planes from a guy on Craigslist up by you in Longmont. A Stanley bedrock (awesome), a Bailey #4, and a Stanley #71 router plane. Love them all! Everything was done by hand, except obviously rough milling. I ordered the 4 pack several months ago and was really itching to get them going on a project. Those tools are amazing! So all dovetails, and final milling was done by hand.
