I decided to build the toolbox and have jumped in the deep-end. So far so good though. I have got my panels glued and the spring joints worked well. I am in the process of cutting pins. I wasn't able to find a pairing block so ended up making one out of scrap and it works. I can't believe how well it worked for layout and cutting the pins. I will post pictures latter.

I forgot to mention I got the plans from smart flix. They have both DVD's and you can download the pdf with the plans/cutlist/drawings and procedures. I wish I could of bought the dvd from MLW but I waited about a day to long. But for all those looking for the dvd this is a good option....I don't work for smart flix

Where can you download the plans and is there a cost involved?

Paul and others,

I too rented the DVDs from SmartFlix.

The plans are on the 2nd DVD.

They can be found in their own folder.

Hope you all enjoy.

I like to have a set of the plans and cut list/layout for the tool box the video leaves me a bit lost. ( I have had one too many concussions) I would like to adapt the tool box to my capabilities and resources the plan would allow me to substitute some of the lumber needed. I have no way of planing nor a way of gluing up panels so I will substitute with furniture grade ply.

When I complete this box it will be for tools and will be treated as a tool if it works out I may make several for various uses in the shop and adapt one to be a printer stand.

I guess pictures are better late than never. I had planned on doing step by step photos during the building process but it is to late for that so here is the finished box.

Very nice! You sure those are your first hand cut dovetails? I'm green with envy! I still haven't even started my box, still in the planning stages, but yours make me want to bump mine up on the old "things to do" list.

Chunk,
The toolbox looks great! Well done. One thing though, on the first picture, the bottom two knobs on the right side don't look like they align with the top two. Is it just the picture? I'm still waiting for Rat and Neil to chime in on the hardware....

The knobs are all in line. The fact that the bottom two drawers have bigger knobs has nothing to do with it. Because the picture was taken at a close range there is a natural "Keystone" effect that causes the angle. Just look at the sides of the toolbox, they are angled too. By the way, nice job. It looks like the one Tommy made in the video.

Sorry for the delay in posting it has been a crazy summer...

To pile on to the knob question. Everyone was correct in that the knobs on the bottom two drawers are larger, just slightly. That combined with the angles of my photography enhance the effect.

Thanks everyone for the complements.
