Thank you Richard! It's like a child, it has become part of me and I hate to see it go. I will have visitation rights though! We will be taking this piece to my brothers house!

Beautiful work on an ambitious project.

IMHO I would pull off the hardware and give it a bright polish to match your spankin'-new finish on the rest of the piece. Even on furniture with a somewhat aged finish, and definitely on furniture that is finished as "new," I like my brass shiny.

thanks Matthew, your work is outstanding! For that matter, all of the Hobbs' do outstanding work! Congrats to your dad and family on his Cartouche award at SAPFM. My brother and I will be building at least 2 more of these and they will have the bright brasses. My brother and I didn't want to change the finish on the hardware for this one because it came from my grandfathers hardware stash and closely matches the brasses he used on the secretary base he made for my mom in the 1940's.

Chris, your Seymour desk looks like a million bucks! You and your brother should be pleased. Of course it's doubly cool that you built it off of your Grandfathers prints, how cool is that? :)
