Ok, I love the show on the footstool! And I love to cut those legs! But I also love that vise you are using on your show to hold that leg while you are fairing it but I can't find one anywhere! HELP! Where in the world did you find that VISE!!!

I don't think I'm allowed to say where we got the clamp, but I think you can probably guess. That particular clamp is nice (it's a bar clamp) because it has bolt holes at the top, which we used to bolt it to a 2x4 and some plywood. We could then clamp the 2x4 into the vise at whatever angle was convenient. Really, any bar clamp will work. You can clamp the bar in the vise.

That bar clamp reminds me of at least 50 of them in a rack, different lengths. The school I was co-teaching a class at, had them donated from an old retired wood shop.

I've always been taught that necessity was the mother of invention. However, sometimes necessity is just a MOTHER! So I trotted myself off to a local supply house and bought me one of those cheap aluminum extendable bar clamps, dug out an nice straight 2x4 and my molding head for my table saw and just made myself a really nice clamp! The molding head had to come into play to make some support pieces to raise the clamp up in the center but leave room on the sides for the extension to slide by. Works like a charm! I'll add some pictures in the next day or so. Heck, I may patent it! LOL
