I just got a 100bdft of plantation teak to make a table and benches for a customer and am wondering about what glue to use for the assembly of the top etc. This will be outside.
I have two part epoxy and will probably use that but was looking for a little input!
Thanks,
Nick

Nick,

I've only done a little work with teak. The one thing I remember was having to clean all the glue joints with acetone BEFORE applying any glue. Teak is naturally very oily and the acetone helps remove any excess oil before the glue is applied. BTW, I just used plain old yellow glue and had no issues.

Good luck.

Bruce

No personal experience, but I've heard the water activated glues are good with teak, but anything will need the acetone treatment first to have any chance of a decent bond.

Epoxy is the only thing that will survive as long as the teak. Slower epoxy is stronger than the fast stuff. I personally used west system epoxy. This is great marine grade stiff.

Gorilla glue. Wear gloves, unless you want it stuck to your hands for about 9 months.

Or Weldwood Resorcinol glue, popular with boat builders.
