Tommy makes some really nice things but the constant "GUYS" thing drives me NUTS (possibly since I'm not a guy - he should understand that not only guys watch this show! :? ). Also, all the "OK's" are SOOOOO ANNOYING!!! Seems very high strung - and that comes across in the way he talks. I know there is a limit to the time of the show, but if he'd cut out all the unnecessary words, he'd have more than enough time to finish his project without hurrying through. At the very first show, I thought the "OK's, GUYS, YOU KNOWS, and ALRIGHTS" were just because he was nervous about the new show - but they have gotten WORSE, rather than better!!!! Worse to the point that watching the show is too annoying for words. He is adorable  , and seems knowlegable, but I just can NOT bear to listen to him!!!

Unbelievable. This topic has already been over discussed on this forum, a simple search would have shown you that.

Personally, I thought season 1 was a very good start. Season 2 has been great, and it is quite obvious Tommy has worked hard to listen to his viewers to make the show even better.

Tommy, please keep up the great work you do on the show!

It may not always be pleasant but I suppose it's always good to hear all the feedback you can, even if it's negative.
I really enjoy the show and I especially enjoy the tips on the website.

Negative feedback has two positive points:

1) It shows people are watching the show,

2) It shows they care enough to log on and comment.

Thus, negative feedback is, in reality, positive feedback.

In fairness, I think mannerisms should pale in comparison to the quality of the material that is presented on this show. Techniques with common hand tools are so much more valuable than watching Norm bust out projects in his $50,000 shop full of tools and machines.

At least to a relative beginner like myself.

Can't expect somebody to go phony just for tv. I prefer they wouldn't. Sounds like true Boston area to me. Meanwhile, nobody is forcing you to watch. We would all welcome more woodworking shows if anyone thinks they can do better.

Hi Guys I'm from Australia the land down under and this is the first time I've watched your show and I thought it was great. I learned alot from this show especially about how you kept those edges crisp when you were chiseling. This I haven't seen in any woodworking video ever so thanks for that. I'm looking forward in seeing your next shows but first I'm going to have a look around your site and see if there's anything else I might have missed.

Lastly the guys and ok thing didn't bother me at all, I think us blokes just don't pay attention to these sort of things so if you want to keep saying it then say it don't let this sheila stop you.

Yep it's me again I just had to write something an not for the sake of increasing my post count but to say bro wow your videos are just great!!!!! I'm currently watching the bombe series and man now that's a challenge.
Your videos are step by step unlike other videos you see where they basically cut a lot of parts out. I think it's great to see you minimise that as much as possible. In this day and age of high internet speed and higher download limits I think we can afford to download large larger video files and get a video that's almost like being in a class room watching you the instructor without the cuts.
Tommy mate just don't stop producing these videos keep at it I know very well how long, difficult and time consuming they can be to produce. I own cgexperience and I just recently stopped producing videos as all my efforts have gone into learning woodworking my one true passion. Anyway I'm off to watch episode 8 btw before I go there are some missing video files in proceeding episodes.

PBS isn't carrying the show this year in my area. Would be nice to be able to buy episodes in iTunes. If you could make this show more accessable, nation/world wide the site may re-engerize.

I'd have no problem buying season 2 vs watching those other guys and their repeats.

seriously?

I'm hardly a politically correct person, just ask anyone who has read my posts, or met me. Please be more classy in your outlook, and have some respect for a talented woodworker.

And people wonder why there are not a lot of female woodworkers...

I like the show, particularly the "road trips". Projects are a cut above, e.g., the pie crust serving tray and the standing mirror were tops. Tommy can't slow down when he talks 'cause it's only a half hour show and his projects are relatively complex. That being said, he does talk like he is nervous, but that's because he is a real woodworker and not a television professional. I don't mind because it shows him to be a real person. I know Tommy will keep doing his thing.

I think that both seasons #1 and #2 were great! After following 20 years of Norm Abram, anything new would meet some critical comments. Tommy's training at Bennet Street School has brought more complicated techniques and informative things than ever shown by Norm.

I'm looking forward to season 3!

I really liked the episode with the Craftsman-style chair! What I'd like to see is an episode on building a more formal chair like maybe a Queen Ann style. I've built a few from plans but never felt like these were a piece of quality furniture. Luckily, my newly married son wanted them rather than putting them in the garbage, LOL.

I do not think Tommy should change much with the show other than getting PBS to make it an hour long so we get more of the show. I just got through watching the first season and loved the projects and the rapport he has with the guests and the camera. I like that you feel like he is talking directly to you and not at you. The slang or expressions he uses like "guys" is a reference I make to a lot of people no matter what their sex is and always use the word "nice" when I like or am pleased with something. Keep up the great work Tommy and keep those cameras rolling!

This past weekend I was watching an episode of Tommy making a black walnut table.
I was pulled away and i did not see what finish he applied.
Can anyone tell me what the finish product / process was?
